Protrandim

It was almost a year after the RSV issue and sickness galore that I was introduced to a product called Protandim.  I remember sitting there almost in tears not knowing what to do for my little boy.  I stopped taking him places and was so anxious to let him out in fear that he was going to catch the next thing.

I remember it being March and I remember saying a prayer making a deal with heavenly Father that if he would help me to heal my son, I would do whatever it took to heal his lungs and all this sickness.  It was then that I started my search to figure it all out.

it wasn't long until I was introduced to Protandim.  As skeptical as I was to it, I decided to try it and after two bottles of consumption, I started noticing some extreme changes in Matthew. They were slow but still happening.  No more every other day treatments.  It started being like once a week treatments.  And then slowly became once a month and then even less than that.  I thought it may be because winter was passing but I did not care, I was not about to take him off the product.

As I read about Protandim, i started learning about Asthma and breathing and it can be connected to the liver. And as I thought of all the medicine this boy had been given over the last year, I wondered if that was the issue.  Some of the ingredients in Protandim have been known to clean the liver and I wondered if this was happening.    After several months of being on the product and essential oils, Matthew lungs began healing and for the first time, I heard deep breaths from his lungs.  Although he still got sick, it all began to be upper and his oxygen rates began to be in the upper 90's again.  No more wheezing.  I knew that Protandim was something that was helping him.

Grains

I know Matthew has got to be allergic to oats, It is the one grain that causes respiratory/lung heavy breathing.  If he does get some, I normally can just rub Lavendar Oil on him and it will subside.

In addition, Matthew seems to be very sensitive to most grains.  However, the grains seems to affect his stomach and gut.  His breathing does become affected but the breathing sounds more stomach related if that makes sense.  His stomach becomes bloated and gassy.  With the raw diet I am following, minimal grains are used except for Buckwheat and quinoa and it does seem like Matthew does so much better.  I have tried soaking the Kamut and Spelt, sprouting them and then dehydrating them.  My other two children seem to tolerate it much better than wheat but Matthew seems to still bcome affected if he has too much.  His grain consumption has to be small.

Beans (especially pinto and black and navy) are another food that really plays a toll on his stomach unless they are sprouted.  I do not sprout the listed beans but I do sprout lentils and chickpeas.  he does handle those two well. Recently, I tried to introduce more beans and cut back on chicken and it did a toll on his stomach.  I am now wondering if that was what linked him to this ear infection and catching of this cold virus.  His gut was tampered with.  Who knows for sure.

He does extremely well with soaked nuts, sprouted beans, and lots and lots of greens. He does seem to handle chicken and fish well as long as I do not give it to him all the time.

Writing this motivates me to restart the raw diet with him to finish out these winter months.

The recovery of Matthew

After the RSV, Matthew's health was not the same.  I continued to keep gluten and dairy away from him.  However, he continued to have breathing issues galore.  He breathed so heavy and fast.  Nigh time was crazy.  He had blue under his eyes a lot and I was using the nebulizer a lot. It helps some.

He seemed to catch every flu and cold that came around. His nose became runny all the time.  I felt like he was always sick.

Aftermath of RSV

Something changed after the RSV with Matthew's health. His eyes became really puffy and there was a lot of blue streaks under his eyes. The color of his eyes became very dark and cloudy.

Matthew seemed to get sick all the time and we were always dealing with heavy and fast breathing after that.  He was using a nebulizer regularly.  His sleeping was always with fast breathing even when given a treatment and his nose was always constantly runny.  I was constantly watching him in fear of another terrible virus attacking his lungs. Any colds he got went right to his lungs

Back to the Raw Food Diet

I have fed Matthew a pretty strict diet of only raw except for some chicken and fish.  I noticed as I did this, it helped extremely with his breathing.  I have never seen him breathe so well at night and he got through a cold so incredibly well.  The problem is it is a pretty intense diet.

But after today's episode, I am recommitting myself to feeding him this way.

I have found most of my recipes from a medical clinic called Sanoviv.  here is their website....

Trying to figure it out

As I write, Matthew is sleeping and I can't .  He had his second seizure brought on by a high fever and fast breathing.  We took him into the ER and they said he has an ear infection and a slight case of pneumonia.  However, his oxygen saturation rate is 100%.   What is so crazy is his breathing is always affected and aways has been even when his oxygen rate is 100%.  When he had RSV, the treatments helped for a bit in the hospital and then after that they only sped up his heart rate and that was it.  What was more effective was the instrument used to suck out the mucous in his throat.

Although his sicknesses have become few, it does seem to be that every time he gets sick or gets a cold even without a fever, his breathing becomes short, rapid, and or abnormal.  Most of the time if I can get it cleaned out by using an electric aspirator and a product called Xlear, then he can reconvene with a normal breathing rate.  Otherwise, his breathing becomes very short. When it becomes really hard, I then will use a product recommended by a naturopath called Sinusin and Lufeel.  Anyway....

We finally had a sleep study done about a month ago and it was discovered that Matthew has obstructive Sleep Apnea.  The sleep study consultant is recommending removal of adenoids and tonsils.  Why both?

Matthew's ENT stated that Matthew's tonsils are not extremely large.  They are large but not a normal size that would lead him to want to remove them.  We are waiting for an xray result of his adenoids.   He gave us other options that could be used if we choose not to have them removed, oxygen therapy or a CPAP machine. He said the CPAP machine would be extremely rough on Matthew.

As I think over the past three years of all the issues we have had, I know that most of Matthew's breathing issues have been upper.  He has had some lung issues but they seem to have corrected themselves with a natural and 80% raw diet as well as a product called Protandim.  However,  the upper airways have not been resolved and whenever this boy gets sick, they seem to get restrictive or something becomes inflamed which is causing blockage of some sort of the passage way.  Matthew then works extra hard to try to manage the smaller amount of air coming in.

I have noticed that Ibuprofen works amazing for him as to help him with his breathing issues.  So, I definitely know it's inflammation related.  I just want to be certain what is causing the obstructiveness. Is it is tonsils, adenoids, or large tongue?  Could the tonsils be brought down in size if we discovered he was allergic to something and stopped giving it to him?  Is there anything else causing his tonsils to be a bit larger? Or is that just how he is made?

There is a cycle here and I am ready to figure it out and put a stop to it.
